Shopping Opportunities in Watson Township

Shopping is more convenient out here in the country than it is in the city. Meijer, Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Tractor Supply are only 10 minutes away in Plainwell.

10 minutes in the other direction, the city of Allegan offers the Perrigo Factory Store for discounted prices on over-the-counter drugs and vitamins, as well a Family Farm and Home store and other shopping opportunities.

Kalamazoo is about 25 minutes south. Grand Rapids is about 25 minutes north. Holland is 25 minutes northwest. Chicago is only about 3 hours west and Detroit is only 2 1/2 hours east.

There are many restaurants in the area from which to choose. Plainwell has two dozen places to eat. You can choose fast food chains like McDonalds and Pizza Hut or family restaurants like Applebee’s. Or visit locally owned establishments like 747 Bistro and the world-famous Plainwell Ice Cream. If you drive another 10 miles east to Richland you will find another dozen good restaurants.

Going west, Allegan offers a nice variety of eating establishments from the upscale Coach House Inn to fast food and delicious mom-and-pop eateries. A few mile farther west you will find upscale dining on the shore of Lake Michigan at Saugatuck or dozens more restaurants of every description in Holland.

Craft fairs, antique markets and festivals are held sthroughout the area nearly every weekend. Bittersweet Ski Resort offers cold weather fun for the entire family. The US-131 Motorsports Park provides lots of action for racing enthusiasts during the warm months of the year.
